Coral Engraved Bamboo Toothbrush

By using our custom engraved bamboo toothbrush, you are keeping more plastic pollution out of the ocean and joining the global movement of Zoaistas, people creating a world for coral reefs to flourish.
Federico Kessler and Mariana Camolesi, fabulous Zoaistas shown here, were on their way out to scrub unwanted algae off of Zoe - A Living Sea Sculpture with old plastic toothbrushes that are sanitized to keep the corals safe from disease.
We repurpose old toothbrushes to stop them from going into landfills and garbage patches, then recycle them when they're worn out.
We clean the reef structure to prevent corals from being smothered to death by algae. Overgrowth of algae is a result of pollution and too many nutrients (think fertilizer and nitrogen) causing toxic algae blooms to grow out of control.
Native algae eaters aren't numerous enough to balance the reef ecosystem. Coral reefs need nutrient-poor water to survive. So while we await water treatment plants along with behavior and policy changes, we can help the situation by brushing our teeth with bamboo and using the plastic to brush away the damaging algae.

SMOOTH & NATURAL BAMBOO HANDLE - Stronger and harder than wood, bamboo is also more durable and healthier than any plastic. It is a fast growing plant with self-renewing properties which will avoid further deforestation. Sealed with Howard Cutting Board Oil, a food grade mineral oil enriched with vitamin E , and the packaging is biodegradable.
HEALTH & SAFETY STANDARD - the bristles are made of BPA free soft nylon which is easy on your gums and has passed dentist's official health and safety standar
Designs
There are two coral patterns available:
- meandroid (2 brushes on the left)
- septa (2 brushes on the right)
We laser-engrave these patterns in-house using close-up images of coral exoskeletons. The color differences are due to the naturally occurring tonal variations in bamboo. Most are in a honey, golden amber range.

We offer these toothbrushes as small works of art to celebrate life giving coral reefs and a little extra art and beauty in your life to thank you for helping revive coral reefs with your purchase of sustainable toothbrushes.
Proceeds directly contribute to our coral restoration efforts. The handle can be upcycled or composted at home when it is time to go back to the Earth.
